Now there are robust tower server solutions like Dell PowerEdge T140 that are best used by a small business. However, the small businesses still have two option at their disposal to choose from when it comes to selecting a server for their enterprise, that is:

  • Rack
  • Tower Server

What a Small Business Should Choose?

Choosing between the Dell PowerEdge T140 Tower server or rack can be confusing for the small business.  Before the server’s selection process is simple, as for small business often go with the tower and large company goes with the rack servers. However, everything is different now. A tower server like Dell PowerEdge T140 can perform well like a rack server. Also, much small business use rack server and it work fine for them. Therefore, it is not very clear what a small business should use now.

So here are the factors on which you can use to decide on choosing the best server for your small business:

Factors Playing An Essential Role In Choosing Server

1.     Place You Physically Put The Server

If you want to install the server in the data center, you must go with the rack server. However, most of the small business does not use the data center. Therefore, they can choose the Dell PowerEdge T140 tower server to fulfill their needs, easily placed under the employee’s desk or corner office.

2.     Noise

Noise can be a massive distraction at work. Generally, the Dell PowerEdge T140 Tower servers are much quieter than the Rack Servers. The reason rack server makes more noise, are they work under the close-space, without much airflow. The fans need t work harder due to lack of airflow, which results in noise.

In the Tower server case, there is no space- constraint, which means they enjoy much better airflow. That’s why many like tower servers for their less noise they create compare to the rack server.

3.     The Temperature Of The Server Installs Location

The server runs well under the normal temperature range. The rack server might need extra for controlling the temperature of the data center. The rack server requires a large setup like servers, storage arrays, networking switches, and uninterrupted power supplies (UPS). All this equipment can increase the surrounding temperature, for which you need to use the air conditioner in the data center. Often small business does not have a lot to invest in the data center with the temperature control. Therefore the tower server can be the best choice.
